Bratz Yasmin Repaint

Posted on October 15, 2012 at 9:45 AM Comments comments (1)

I attempted my first Bratz doll repaint recently.  Not sure about the results :)  Originally a Yasmin Bratz doll, she had some damage to her make-up so I removed all her facepaint and began again with a view to giving her a more natural look...

I found repainting her a little difficult as her features...

Retrodolls Stain Remover Saves the Day

Recently I had a mishap with one of my favourite Tidgy Dolls, Sheila.  I took her out for the day and popped her in my purse 'to keep her safe' only to find the dark lining had stained her face terribly :(

I managed to fade the marks a little by scrubbing with bicarbonate od soda (that's what the white residue is) but as you can see, it didn't help much!

So I ordered some doll stain re...

Look what I found on a Cat's Protection League charity stall at the weekend.  This adorable (if rather dirty) little Kid Kore doll from the early 90s.

She needs a bit of a bath but her conscience is clean since she helped raise funds to help all those little kitties ^-^...

She se...

The Thinking Doll proudly presents custom one-of-a-kind doll number 3 - The Tree Fairy.

She began life as a rather harshly painted generic fashion doll.  Don't get me wrong, she is well made, not unlike the dolls made by Simba toys, but her face-up was rather garish and harsh, and by the time she came to me she was also a little battered and naked.

A Diversion Into Jewellery Making

I recently bought a large mixed lot of doll shoes and was left with quite a few pairs of doll shoes of non-standard sizes that just wouldn't fit any of my girls.  So rather than waste them, I decided to try my hand at making earrings - here are the results :)

Hot on the heels of our custom 'Belle Doll' comes The Thinking Doll OOAK Custom Doll number 2 - 'Glinda the Good Witch' from the Wizard of Oz.

Obviously she isn't an exact replica of the character in the movie but simply inspired by her (I guess even Glinda likes to mix up her wardrobe now and again ;D)

This doll began life as a normal vintage Ro...

Taming the Tangles!

The Dolls of The World Princess of the Portuguese Empire Barbie that my daughter got for her birthday is her favourite.  Unfortunately her curly, frizzy hair proved to be quite unmanageable!

She asked me if I would help to tame the tangles so a boiling water straightening session and a slight trim later here is the result...
